The Guildhall
High St, Bath BA1 5AW
Please see below a list of recommendations of hotels, pubs, restaurants and taxi companies for your stay in Bath.
Budget Hotels
Highly recommended! Bit of a walk from the venue, but very picturesque.
Been there for centuries, like Donal and Jan. Super close to Guildhall, and all the main sights!
You can clean yourself up and have a good meal.
Mid Range Hotels
(there are three in Bath, all walkable from the venue)
Peter Testar rates their fry ups very highly.
It’s right next to the train station.
The Francis Hotel
In the heart of Georgian Bath, so you can pretend you’re in Bridgerton.
Up the hill from town, and recently revamped. It’s also where Emer went for lunch for her 7th birthday. They have just finished cleaning up.
Ooh - someone’s making a weekend of it!
(Top Range Hotels)
The Gainsborough
Luxury hotel with access to Bath’s most famous natural thermal, mineral rich waters
The Royal Crescent Hotel
A landmark mentioned in several of Jane Austen's books.
"Oh! Who can ever be tired of Bath?" - Jane Austen, 1803
“I cannot wait to move out of Bath" - Emer Heatley, 2012
The Bath Priory
A very swanky hotel, not a rehab clinic.
(a taxi ride away)
A Note on Hotels
If all these hotels are full we recommend trying www.booking.com or AirBnb. Alternatively, there are more hotels outside Bath and also in Bristol which is a 45 minute drive (roughly £45 in a taxi) or 10 minute train.
Please give us a shout if you are still struggling for ideas!
Pubs
Really nice, proper old school West Country hippy pub. Good real ale and sometimes live music. Community owned. Famous for throwing out Nigel Farage in 2015.
Proper old boozer. Favoured by Donal Heatley. Due a refurb around 1976.
Sarah Heatley worked there as a teenager. They’ve just about recovered their losses.
Relive Emer’s teenage years. Great for a pint if you are 16.
One of the best pubs around which is very near Emer’s parents’ house. Not in the city centre but worth visiting if you are exploring the surrounding area. Also community owned. “The best pub ever” - Paul Testar, 2022.
Note: A lot of these pubs serve food, but the last time we checked The Star does not.
Restaurants
The finest of chain restaurants, the creme de la creme of any high street. If we could have got married here, we would have done.
Best Pizza in town according to Ruth Heatley’s mate.
Greek Restaurant, a local classic
Indian street food takeaway - get the samosa wrap!
In an old train station! Pizzas, burgers, nice pub grub.
Lovely modern plant based and vegetarian Restaurant
Very nice long standing Nepalese Restaurant. Very tasty.
Really lovely, farm to table organic Portuguese dining.
Taxis
Uber and Bolt both operate in Bath.
